About this spot

Sashide-no-Iso, in Utada, Yamanashi City, is a rocky outcrop jutting into the Fuefukigawa River (笛吹川), a scenic place long celebrated in poetry. It is said to appear in the Manyoshu (万葉集) and the Kokin Wakashu (古今和歌集), and it is designated a Place of Scenic Beauty by Yamanashi Prefecture. Standing on the rocks, you see the river flowing close beneath your feet, and the sound of the water and the breeze feel cool. It is also known as a cherry blossom spot in spring, showing a different face in each season. Seeing the river first thing in the morning makes it feel connected to the stream you will play in at Manriki Park (万力公園) in the afternoon.

万力公園せせらぎの広場・水辺の広場は、園内を流れる小川の浅瀬を利用した水と親しめる広場です。プールのように区切られた場所ではなく自然に近い流れなので、水をすくったり石をひっくり返して生きものを探したりと、子どもが自分で遊び方を見つけていきます。公園は24時間開放されており利用は無料。まわりを松林が囲んでいるため木陰が多く、真夏でも比較的涼しく過ごせるのがこの公園の強みです。園内には子どもの広場の複合遊具、5か所の芝生広場、ふれあい動物広場、観賞用の噴水広場「笛吹の泉」、ローラースケート場、バーベキュー広場までそろい、1日では回りきれないほどの充実ぶりです。水遊びと外遊びを何度も行き来しながら、夕方までのんびり過ごせます。

料金は無料です。水遊びの開設期間は未発表なので、出発前に公式ページ(http://www.yamanashi-fruitpark.co.jp/manriki-kouen/hiroba.html)で必ず確認してください。噴水広場「笛吹の泉」は観賞用なので入って遊ぶ場所ではありません。小川の底には石があるためマリンシューズが安全です。雨のあとは水量が増えることがあるので、流れの様子を見て無理をしない判断を。松林では虫よけがあると快適に過ごせます。

Tips

Visiting is free. Parts of the rocky area have unsteady footing, so keep your eyes on the children. When the water is high or after rain, decide not to approach. Parking space is limited, so if you come by car, take care where you park.
