Ando Family Residence (安藤家住宅)

About this spot

This Edo-period farmhouse still standing in Sainanko, Minami-Alps City, is designated a National Important Cultural Property. It was the estate of the Ando family, who served as village headmen for this area, and the main house along with the storehouse and gate are preserved as they were. Step inside and children widen their eyes at a structure utterly unlike today's homes: thick beams, a broad earthen floor, and paper screens that let the light through. Seasonal flowers and plants are planted in the garden, and quiet time flows here. Seeing an old building first thing in the morning makes the contrast with the modern park later in the day all the more interesting.

甲西ふれあい公園じゃぶじゃぶ池は、滝から水が流れ込む水深約40cmの水遊び場です。4月下旬から9月まで10:00〜18:00に利用でき、料金は無料。夕方6時まで開いているので、日が長い季節なら仕事帰りや夕方のおでかけにも使えます。滝の下に立って水を浴びるのが人気の遊び方で、まわりには広い芝生広場とローラー滑り台、ターザンロープなどの遊具があり、水と遊具を行き来できます。四阿やベンチもあるので、日陰で休みながら過ごせるのもありがたいところです。日帰り温泉のやまなみの湯が隣接しており、遊んだあとに湯につかってから帰るという流れも組めます。

Tips

料金は無料です(テニスコート・ゲートボール場は有料)。水深が約40cmとやや深めなので、小さな子から目を離さず、必ず保護者が付き添ってください。開設は4月下旬〜9月の10:00〜18:00ですが、開始日・終了日の詳細は未発表のため、南アルプス市の公式ページ(https://www.city.minami-alps.yamanashi.jp/sisetsu/shisetsu/koen-kosaifureai/)で必ず事前確認を。池の底で足を切らないようマリンシューズがあると安心です。隣接するやまなみの湯を使う場合は、入浴用のタオルを別に用意しておきましょう。

Tips

Admission is about 300 yen for adults, with discounted or free entry for children (please check the facility's information for the latest fees and open days). You remove your shoes to go inside, so shoes that are easy to slip on and off are handy. It is not a place for running around, so planning a shorter stay makes things easier.
