Kosai Fureai Park Jabu-jabu Pond

About this spot

The Kosai Fureai Park Jabu-jabu Pond is a water-play area about 40 cm deep, fed by water pouring in from a waterfall. It is open from late April through September, from 10:00 to 18:00, and admission is free. Since it stays open until 6 in the evening, it works for an outing after work or in the early evening during the long days of summer. Standing under the waterfall and letting the water fall over you is the popular way to play, and around it are a wide lawn, a roller slide, a zip line and other equipment, so you can move back and forth between the water and the playground. There are also arbors and benches, so you can rest in the shade, which is a real help. The Yamanami-no-Yu day-use hot spring is right next door, so you can work in a soak before heading home.

Tips

Admission is free (the tennis courts and the gateball ground charge a fee). The water is a little deep at about 40 cm, so never take your eyes off small children and always stay with them. It is open from late April through September, 10:00 to 18:00, but the exact opening and closing dates have not been announced, so be sure to check the official Minami-Alps City page (https://www.city.minami-alps.yamanashi.jp/sisetsu/shisetsu/koen-kosaifureai/) in advance. Water shoes are reassuring so you do not cut your feet on the bottom of the pond. If you plan to use the neighboring Yamanami-no-Yu, prepare a separate towel for bathing.

Best time to visit

Arrive at 13:20 and you can play for over 3 hours until evening, when the sunlight softens
