Sagiyama Castle Ruins (鷺山城跡)

About this spot

A low hill in Sagiyama, Gifu City, said to be where Saito Dosan built his retirement castle during the Warring States period. The elevation is not high, but the path to the summit climbs through stands of trees, making it just the right sort of adventure for children. From the top you can look out over the flow of the Nagara River and the city of Gifu, with Mt. Kinka in the distance. The combination of a mountain castle site surviving right beside a built-up area is what makes this spot distinctive. In the cool morning hours you can go up and back without working up too much of a sweat.

岐阜市島地区の白菊公園(白菊町6丁目29)にある、無料で利用できる水遊び場「白菊公園徒渉池(児童用プール)」です。2026年は7月22日から7月31日までのうち計9日間、13時から16時まで開設されます。開設日数が少ないぶん、夏休みの前半に予定を合わせて出かけたい水遊び場です。水深が浅いので、まだ泳げない小さな子どもでも自分の足で歩きながら水に親しめます。対象は原則として小学3年生以下で、未就学児は保護者同伴、おむつのとれない幼児は利用できません。開設日は岐阜市の日程表のとおりで、悪天候のときは赤旗が掲げられて中止になります。

Tips

利用は無料です。開設日が限られるので、必ず岐阜市の日程表で当日が開設日か確認してから出かけてください。現地では赤旗が中止の合図です。水着を服の下に着ていくと着替えがスムーズ。日陰が限られるため、レジャーシートと多めの飲み物を持参しましょう。16時終了なので、15時45分ごろから片づけを始めてください。

Tips

Visiting is free. Parts of the mountain path are unpaved, so climb in comfortable walking shoes rather than sandals. Mosquitoes and insects are around in summer, so insect repellent and a long-sleeved layer will put you at ease. Bring drinks and take frequent short breaks along the way.
