This is the Mist Prelude Water Play Area at Gifu World Rose Garden (formerly Hana Festa Memorial Park) in Kani City. The garden's water feature area, Mist Prelude, hosts summer-only splash play. The combination of rising mist and water features creates a coolness unlike a pool or a river, so even children wary of water can start by walking through the mist and gradually get used to it. Admission is charged, but it is free for high school students and younger, which helps keep family spending down. Together with the fountain, bouncy dome and large combination play structure at Fufufu Square, the garden alone can fill an entire afternoon. Even in summer, after the rose season has passed, it is a park worth visiting for its greenery and water.

Do not count on changing rooms; wearing swimwear under clothes before you leave makes changing simple. The garden is large and you walk to the water play area, so keep luggage to a minimum. Shade is limited during the strongest sunlight hours, so bring a hat and plenty to drink. The Fufufu Square fountain stops running at 16:00, so starting to pack up around the same time leaves you plenty of margin for the trip home.

Roughly 13:45 to 16:00. After 15:00, as the sun drops, the coolness of the mist feels even better
