Enkyoji Temple (池鏡山圓鏡寺)

About this spot

An ancient temple in Kitagata Town with a distinguished history, said to have been founded by Kobo Daishi. The two-story gate standing at the front of the approach is an imposing structure, cherished as a symbol of the town. The grounds are cool and surrounded by trees, and a morning walk here makes for a pleasant stretch of time. The adjoining Enkyoji Park (円鏡寺公園) has a pond and playground equipment, which is handy since children can go straight on to play after the temple visit. A historic site sitting right beside a children's playground is a scene very much in keeping with this town.

本巣郡北方町の清流平和公園にある無料の水遊び場「清流平和公園せせらぎ水路」です。せせらぎ水路は4月から9月まで、10:00から15:00に稼働します。子どもが安全に水と親しめるように浅くつくられており、まだ泳げない小さな子でも自分の足で歩いて水にふれられます。同じ園内にコンビネーション遊具があるので、水と遊具を行き来しながら過ごせるのが便利なところ。東屋があるため、大人は日陰で休みながら見守れます。園内には平和の鐘と小水力発電の設備もあり、目の前を流れる水が電気をつくっているという仕組みを子どもに見せられるのは、この公園ならではの体験です。

Tips

利用は無料です。悪天候時やメンテナンス時は稼働しない場合があるため、出発前に北方町の案内で確認してください。稼働は15:00までなので、この時間を目安に片づけを始めましょう。水路の底で足を痛めないよう、水遊び用サンダルやマリンシューズを用意してください。更衣室は想定せず、水着を服の下に着てから出かけるとスムーズです。東屋以外は日陰が限られるので、レジャーシートと帽子、多めの飲み物を忘れずに。

Tips

Visiting is free. Please follow the on-site guidance for etiquette within the grounds and where you may enter. There are gravel paths and stone steps, so wear comfortable walking shoes. The playground equipment in the park next door gets hot in midsummer, so check the temperature by hand before playing. There is plenty of shade, but be sure to carry drinks with you.
