Seiryu Peace Park Babbling Waterway

About this spot

This is the free water play area known as the Babbling Waterway at Seiryu Peace Park (清流平和公園) in Kitagata Town, Motosu District. The waterway operates from April to September, between 10:00 and 15:00. It is built shallow so children can enjoy the water safely, so even small children who cannot swim yet can touch the water while walking on their own feet. There is combination playground equipment in the same park, which is convenient since you can go back and forth between water and equipment. An arbor means adults can watch over things while resting in the shade. The park also has a Peace Bell and a micro hydroelectric generator, and being able to show children how the water flowing right in front of them creates electricity is an experience unique to this park.

Tips

Use is free. The waterway may not operate in bad weather or during maintenance, so check the Kitagata Town information before you set out. Operation ends at 15:00, so use that time as your cue to start packing up. Bring water sandals or marine shoes so you do not hurt your feet on the bed of the waterway. Do not count on changing rooms; wearing a swimsuit under your clothes before you set out makes things smooth. Shade is limited outside the arbor, so do not forget a picnic sheet, hats and plenty of drinks.
