This shrine is cherished as the guardian shrine of all Ogaki, and its grounds hold an artesian spring. Ogaki is rich in groundwater and known as a city of water with artesian wells all over town, and this is one of the most representative. Water cold enough to numb your hands even in summer overflows without pause, a sight children will want to peer into again and again. Many people use it as drinking water, and you can see locals coming with plastic bottles to fill up. Visit here and the meaning behind the name of the Suito no Izumi, where you will play in the afternoon, falls neatly into place.

Tips

Visiting is free. Please follow the on-site notices regarding drinking the spring water and how to draw it. Bring an empty plastic bottle and you can take some home. The stone paving can get wet and slippery, so remind children not to run. The grounds are a quiet place, so be mindful of how loudly you speak.
