Nichioji Nature Forest Sports Plaza (日応寺自然の森スポーツ広場) Kids Plaza Fountain (こども広場 噴水), in Kita Ward, Okayama City, is a free water-play spot surrounded by forest. You can splash around in the Kids Plaza's fountain and landscaped pond, and with wooden play structures right next door, you can spend a long time moving back and forth between water and play equipment. The grounds also have a fitness plaza and a putting golf course, showing the park's range for letting older kids and adults get moving too. With Okayama Airport nearby, having planes pass overhead while you play is a big highlight for kids. The trees are denser here than in town, which makes it easy for accompanying adults to find shade to rest in.

The 2026 operating period for the fountain has not yet been announced. It usually runs during the summer school break, so check with Okayama City's official information beforehand to confirm the water will be running that day. The park is open 9:00 to 17:00 and closed on Mondays (or the following day if Monday is a holiday), so be sure to check the day of the week. Because it is in the forest, there are mosquitoes and wasps. Bring insect repellent, and do not leave sweet drinks unfinished and unattended. Bringing a change of clothes, towels, and a plastic bag for wet clothes for each person will make the trip home much easier.

Best time to visit

About 3 hours. The afternoon, once the sunlight softens, is recommended, giving you plenty of time to play before the 17:00 closing.
