About this spot

The ‘Mizushima Central Park Fountain Plaza’ in Kurashiki City is a free water-play spot centered on Pop Jet fountains shooting up from the ground. Water columns suddenly rise from fixed spots, so children end up running around trying to read when the water will come, and that alone can keep them entertained for hours. Unlike a deep pool, only the feet get wet, which makes it easy for young children who can't swim yet to join in. Large play equipment and a lawn plaza are in the same park, so kids can move to the playground when they get cold or to the shade of the trees when tired. It's a large park at the heart of Mizushima, also home to sports facilities such as a baseball field and a pool.

Tips

The 2026 operating period for the fountain has not yet been announced. In past years it has run during summer vacation, so check Kurashiki City's information before heading out to confirm whether the water will be running that day. The ground around the fountain gets slippery when wet, so remind children not to run, and have them wear sandals or water shoes that won't come off easily. Since the plaza has little shade, take regular breaks back in the shade of the trees. Bringing a change of clothes, a towel, and a plastic bag for wet clothes for each person makes the trip home easier.
