Kurashiki City's Mizushima Chuo Park Fountain Plaza is a free water-play spot starring pop-jet fountains that shoot up from the ground. Columns of water rise suddenly from fixed points, so children end up running around trying to read the timing, and that alone can keep them going for hours. Unlike a deep pool, only their feet get wet, which makes it easy for small children who cannot swim yet to join in. Large play structures and a lawn plaza are in the same park, so they can move to the equipment when they get cold and to the tree shade when they get tired. It is a large park at the heart of Mizushima, with sports facilities such as a baseball ground and a pool alongside.

Tips

The 2026 operating period for the fountains has not been announced. In past years they have run through the summer holidays, so check the Kurashiki City information before you set out to see whether the water will be on that day. The wet floor around the fountains is slippery, so remind children not to run and have them wear water shoes or sandals that stay on. The plaza has little shade, so head back to the trees for frequent breaks. Bringing a change of clothes, a towel and a plastic bag for wet clothing for each person makes the trip home easier.
