About this spot

The broad lawn plaza inside Mizushima Chuo Park is ideal for spreading out a packed lunch. A steam locomotive is displayed in the park, and the way it connects to the morning ride on the Mizushima Rinkai Railway is what makes this course fun. Looking up at the big black body from close range has a presence completely different from a photograph. Large play structures are in the same park, so you can move a little after eating before shifting to water play. Benches sit under the stand of trees, which helps accompanying adults take turns resting.

倉敷市の「水島中央公園噴水広場」は、地面から吹き上がるポップジェット噴水が主役の無料の水遊びスポットです。決まった場所から急に水柱が上がるので、子どもたちは水の出るタイミングを読み合いながら走り回ることになり、それだけで何時間でも遊べてしまいます。水深のあるプールとは違って足元だけが濡れる遊び方なので、まだ泳げない小さな子でも参加しやすいのが利点です。同じ園内に大型遊具や芝生広場があり、体が冷えたら遊具へ、疲れたら木陰へと移動できます。野球場やプールなどのスポーツ施設も併設された、水島の中心にある大きな公園です。

Tips

2026年の噴水の開設期間は未発表です。例年は夏休み期間なので、出発前に倉敷市の案内で当日水が出るかを確認してください。噴水の周りは濡れた床がすべりやすいので、走らないよう声をかけ、脱げにくいサンダルかマリンシューズを履かせましょう。日陰が少ない広場なので、こまめに木陰へ戻って休憩をとってください。着替えとタオル、濡れた服を入れるビニール袋は人数分そろえておくと帰りが楽です。

Tips

Shade is limited to the area under the trees, so a picnic sheet or pop-up tent makes breaks easier. As a rule, take your rubbish home with you. Some parts of the displayed rolling stock can be climbed and others cannot, so follow the signs on site. Entering the water right after eating puts a strain on the body, so about 30 minutes on the play equipment before heading to the fountains makes a good flow.
