About this spot

Right beside Sakazu Park (酒津公園) stands the intake facility that has drawn water from the Takahashi River (高梁川) and sent it out to the fields of the Kurashiki Plain. The sluice gates and floodgates built in the Taisho era are still in active use today and are designated National Important Cultural Properties. Seen up close, the roaring force of the water is greater than you imagine, and even children can sense the scale of the job of dividing water. Knowing in advance where the water in the park's waterways and the Water Plaza comes from should change how the afternoon of water play looks. It can be seen in a short time, making it just the right stop to open the day.

倉敷市の「酒津公園親水広場」は、「水と桜」をテーマにした総合公園の中にある無料の水遊びスポットです。噴水のある親水広場を中心に、園内には水路が張りめぐらされていて、流れをたどって歩くだけでも子どもは飽きません。すぐ近くの児童広場には大型複合遊具があるので、水に飽きたら遊具へ、暑くなったらまた水へと、自分のペースで遊び続けられます。松林が日陰を作ってくれるため、付き添う大人が休める場所を見つけやすいのも助かるところ。春は桜の名所として知られる公園ですが、夏は水と緑がいちばん気持ちよく感じられる季節です。

2026年の親水広場の稼働期間は未発表です。例年は夏休み期間なので、出発前に倉敷市の案内で当日水が出るかを確認してください。水路や池には深さのある場所もあるので、小さな子から目を離さないようにしましょう。石や砂を水の中に投げ入れないよう、遊ぶ前に約束しておくと安心です。着替えとタオル、濡れた服を入れるビニール袋は人数分そろえ、松林の木陰にレジャーシートを敷いて自分たちの休憩場所を作ると長時間でも疲れにくくなります。

Tips

Follow the on-site signs for the areas open to visitors, and do not enter restricted zones. Some stretches of the waterways and riverbank have no fences, so never take your eyes off small children. There is little shade, so bring a hat and drinks and keep the visit short. The surrounding streets are local residential roads, so park in the Sakazu Park lot and walk over for safety.
