The Water Plaza at Sakazu Park (酒津公園) in Kurashiki City is a free water-play spot inside a comprehensive park themed on water and cherry blossoms. Centered on the water plaza with its fountain, the grounds are laced with waterways, and children never tire of simply walking along and following the flow. The children's plaza right nearby has a large combination play structure, so when they tire of the water they can head for the equipment, and when they get hot they can go back to the water, playing on at their own pace. The pine grove provides shade, which makes it easy for accompanying adults to find a place to rest as well. The park is known as a cherry blossom spot in spring, but summer is the season when its water and greenery feel best.

The 2026 operating period for the Water Plaza has not been announced. In past years it has run during the summer holidays, so check the Kurashiki City information before you set out to see whether the water will be on that day. Some parts of the waterways and ponds are deep, so never take your eyes off small children. Agreeing before you start that no stones or sand may be thrown into the water gives peace of mind. Bring a change of clothes, a towel and a plastic bag for wet clothing for every person, and spread a picnic sheet in the shade of the pine grove to create your own rest spot; that makes even a long stay less tiring.
