Nagayama I-Park (Juichibancho Greenway) Water Play Plaza Babbling Stream
About this spot
The Nagayama I-Park (Juichibancho Greenway) Water Play Plaza Babbling Stream in Kasaoka City is a free water-play spot where you follow a 100-meter shallow stream. There is a waterfall and stepping stones along the way, and the scenery changes as you walk from upstream to downstream, so children can play without staying in one place; that is what makes this channel fun. Anyone can use it free of charge without permission, and the tap-water showers and hand-washing facilities for use afterwards make getting ready to go home much easier. Right beside it is a wood with a lawn area, so when children tire of the water they can rest in the shade or run around. Having a stream like this on a greenway in the middle of town is a luxury unique to Kasaoka.
Tips
In past years it has run from around May until the end of September, but the specific 2026 dates have not been announced. It cannot be used during maintenance periods, so check the Kasaoka City information before you set out to confirm it is running that day. The stepping stones and the streambed get slippery when wet, so have children wear sandals that stay on or water shoes, and remind them not to run. You can rinse off in the shower afterwards, but bring a towel to dry off with and a change of clothes for every person. Parts of the greenway face local residential roads, so take care that children do not run out of the stream and into the street.
Best time to visit
About 2 hours 10 minutes. The afternoon, when the sunlight softens, is recommended.
