The Rainbow Plaza Water Play Area at Kibi Plaza in Kibichuo Town, Kaga District, is a free water play spot set up in the outdoor plaza. Alongside the water play area there is a long roller coaster and a large play structure, and the fun of this plaza is going back and forth: to the slide when you get wet and chilled, back to the water once you dry off. Indoors there is also a children's space called Kids Park, so there is an escape when the sun is too strong or rain comes suddenly, which is reassuring. The adjoining Kibi Chuo Park (吉備中央公園) is free to use as well, so on days when you have not played enough you can spread out further. The Kibi Highlands sit at a high elevation and the breeze is cooler than in town, making summer water play gentle on the body, another quality unique to this area.

Tips

The water play area runs from 10:00 to 15:00. In a typical year it operates on weekends and holidays from May to September and daily during the summer vacation period, but the exact opening period for 2026 has not been announced, so check the Kibichuo Town information before you set out. Since it closes early, at 15:00, build your afternoon plans by working backward from that time. The highland sun is strong while mornings and evenings turn cool, so having both a hat and a light layer keeps everyone comfortable. Preparing a change of clothes, a bath towel, and a plastic bag for wet clothing for each person makes the trip home much easier.
