Kamenoko Station on the JR Tsuyama Line is known for its station building, which is itself shaped like a giant turtle. The design references the turtle legend behind the place name, and a clock is built into the part representing the eye. Trains aren't very frequent, but if you time your visit well, you can capture both the turtle-shaped station and a diesel railcar in the same photo. It's a small station that is sometimes unstaffed, and the relaxed atmosphere, completely different from a city station, is also memorable. It's worth taking in this town's distinctive scenery right at the start of the day.

Tips

Check the train timetable in advance and time your visit to an arrival for easier photos. The platform and tracks are areas related to train operations, so be careful not to enter without a ticket. Parking is limited, so be mindful not to obstruct traffic in the surrounding area. There's little shade, so bringing a hat and a drink and keeping the visit short is the way to go.
