Kyu no Oka, the large play structure next to the Great Lawn Plaza (大芝生広場), is the liveliest place in Bihoku Hillside National Park (国営備北丘陵公園). Slides, nets and tunnels are combined into a three-dimensional structure that suits everyone from toddlers to elementary school children. The recommended order is to spread a sheet on the grass and eat lunch first, rest a while, and then head for the play structure. The Bikkuri Shower is right in front of it, so you can move straight into water play once you have worked up a sweat. The lawn is so wide that children are happy just running around on it.

国営備北丘陵公園ビックリシャワー(大芝生広場)は、大型複合遊具「きゅうの丘」の前にある、ボタンを押すと水が噴き上がるシャワー噴水です。自分で押して自分で浴びるという仕組みなので、水がこわい子も距離を取りながら少しずつ慣れていけます。プールのような深さがなく、芝生広場に隣接しているため、遊び疲れたらすぐにシートへ戻って休めるのも安心なところ。利用は無料で、必要なのは公園の入園料だけです(中学生以下は無料)。何度も水が噴き上がるたびに歓声があがる、夏の備北丘陵公園を代表する人気スポットです。

2026年の開設期間は未発表です。出発前に公式サイトで開設状況を確認してください。利用は無料ですが、公園の入園料が別途必要です(中学生以下は無料。金額は公式サイトで確認を)。近くに専用の更衣室がない場合に備えて、水着を服の下に着ていくと着替えがスムーズです。水を含んだ芝生や園路は滑りやすいので、走らないよう声をかけましょう。着替えとタオルは人数分より少し多めに用意すると安心です。

Tips

There is little shade on the lawn, so claim a spot under the trees early. Play equipment can get hot in the summer sun, so touch the surface of the slide to check the temperature before letting children use it. Take your rubbish home with you. Distances inside the park are long, so asking at the entrance about the park shuttle bus and rental bicycles makes getting around easier.
