Hiroshima Prefectural Mominoki Forest Park Stream Play Area
About this spot
The Hiroshima Prefectural Mominoki Forest Park Stream Play Area is a water play spot where cold mountain water flows into a shallow pond. Having run down from the highlands, the water is so cold that the moment you put a foot in, out comes a cry of how cold it is. That feeling of midsummer heat draining away is something you can only get here. The water is shallow, so even small children who are afraid of water can get used to it little by little at their own pace. There is plenty of shade around, so when they tire of playing they can get out of the sun and rest right away. Admission is free, and the water play costs nothing.

Tips
The 2026 operating period has not been announced. Check the official website for the opening status before you set out. The mountain water is very cold, so take breaks rather than staying in too long. A change in lip colour is the sign to get out. There are stones on the bottom of the pond, so bring sandals that stay on or water shoes. Places to change are limited, so wearing swimwear under your clothes keeps things simple. The highlands cool down sharply from the evening, so bringing an extra layer and plenty of towels is reassuring.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 30 minutes. Going in during the hottest part of the afternoon makes the cold mountain water stand out
