Kawanoe Castle Ruins Keep (川之江城跡天守)

About this spot

A castle standing on Shiroyama hill in Kawanoe-cho, Shikokuchuo City, also known as Butsuden Castle (仏殿城). Climb to the keep and the Hiuchi-nada Sea (燧灘) spreads out before you, while on the opposite side you can see the townscape lined with paper-mill chimneys. What makes it interesting is how Kawanoe's geography, a long narrow strip of land squeezed between sea and mountains, becomes clear at a glance from above. The route up Shiroyama has slopes and steps, so it is best to climb in the cool of the morning. Starting the walk after looking down on how the town came to be makes the story of the paper town you visit next far easier to absorb.

「川之江ふれあいパーク噴水」は、四国中央市川之江町の川之江ふれあい交流センター内にある無料の水遊びスポットです。様々なパターンで水が飛び出す仕掛けになっていて、次にどこから噴き上がるかを待ち構える時間そのものが遊びになります。プールのように深さがないので、小さな子どもでも自分の足で立って遊べるのが安心なところ。すぐそばに足洗い場があり、遊んだあとに砂や汚れを落としてから帰れます。ふわふわドームや砂場、幼児向け遊具、1周100mの芝生広場が同じ園内にそろっているので、水と陸を行き来しながら過ごせます。2026年の開設期間は未発表で、例年は夏休み期間の開放となるため、出発前に四国中央市の公式案内で必ず確認してください。

Tips

噴水の周りは水で濡れて滑りやすいので、脱げにくいサンダルかマリンシューズを履かせ、走り回りすぎないよう声をかけてください。更衣室やシャワーがある施設ではないため、濡れてもよい服で行くか、車内で着替えられる準備をしておくと安心です。小さな子は水遊び用おむつを着用しましょう。園内の施設は17:00までなので、16:45には水遊びを切り上げて足洗い場と着替えの時間を取ってください。雨天時などは利用が制限されることがあり、雷が鳴ったらすぐに切り上げましょう。ゴミは持ち帰りが基本です。
