Kariya City Local History Museum

About this spot

A museum introducing the history and daily life of Kariya, housed in the schoolhouse of the former Kijo Elementary School (旧亀城小学校). The building itself is a nationally Registered Tangible Cultural Property, and stepping into a classroom with plank floors and large windows, you feel that the air of an old school has been left exactly as it was. The exhibits center on farm tools, household objects, and materials relating to Kariya Castle (刈谷城), with more to discover the more closely adults read. The exhibition rooms are compact, so even small children can make a full circuit while their attention holds, which is a real plus. Spend the cool morning hours indoors and save your energy for the afternoon water play.

刈谷市交通児童遊園にある無料の水遊び場、「刈谷市交通児童遊園じゃぶじゃぶ噴水池」です。2026年は6月1日(月)から運用が始まり、9月30日(水)まで9:00〜16:00で利用できます。入園も水遊びも無料で、費用がかかるのは大型遊具の1回50円だけ。水に飽きたら遊具、遊具に飽きたらまた水と、子どもが自分のペースで遊び続けられるのがこの公園のよいところです。おむつ替え用ベッド・授乳室・AED・車いす用トイレが整っており、赤ちゃん連れや小さな子連れでも安心して長居できます。無料なので、夕方に少しだけ立ち寄る使い方もできます。

Tips

水曜は休園日です(祝日の場合は翌日が休み)。2026年8月6日(木)は設備修繕のため休止なので、この日は避けて計画してください。16:00までの運用なので、片付けと着替えの時間を逆算して15時半ごろには水から上がると落ち着いて帰れます。水遊び後は水道で体をよく流し、木陰で休憩をはさみながら遊ぶと熱中症を防げます。おむつが取れていない子には水遊び用おむつを用意してください。

Tips

Admission is free. There are set closed days, so check the opening calendar on the official website before you set out. Since it is a wooden building, a word beforehand about not running around is reassuring. Kijo Park is right next door, so you can simply walk over.
