Higashiura Town Local History Museum

About this spot

A local history museum introducing the history and daily life of Higashiura Town (東浦町). This land corresponds to Ogawa (緒川), where Lady Odai, mother of Tokugawa Ieyasu (徳川家康), was born, and it displays materials concerning the Mizuno clan (水野氏) along with items excavated from sites around the town. In the farm tool and household object corners, children's eyes go wide at shapes utterly unlike anything they know. The exhibition rooms are compact, so even small children can make a full circuit while their attention holds, which is just right. Spend the cool morning hours indoors and save your energy for the afternoon water play.

Venue: 東浦町・於大公園

東浦町の於大公園にある無料の水遊び場、「於大公園ふれあいファミリー広場ふんすいひろば」です。2026年4月18日にオープンしたふれあいファミリー広場の一角にあり、5月1日(金)から9月30日(水)まで10:00〜16:00で利用できます。すぐそばにドーム型の屋根が架かった人工芝の広場と乳幼児向けの遊具があるので、水に飽きたら日陰で遊び、涼しくなったらまた水へ、と行き来できるのがこの場所の強みです。隣接する更衣室を利用できるため、着替えの場所に困らないのも家族連れにはありがたいところ。料金は無料なので、短時間だけ立ち寄る使い方もできます。

Tips

稼働の時期と時間は変更になる可能性があり、雨天や強風のときは自動で停止します。出発前に東浦町の公式サイトで当日の稼働状況を確認してください。16:00までの運用なので、片付けと着替えの時間を逆算して15時半ごろに水から上がると落ち着いて帰れます。水遊び後は体をよく流し、日陰で休憩をはさみながら遊ぶと熱中症を防げます。おむつが取れていない子には水遊び用おむつを用意してください。

Tips

Check closed days and opening hours on the town's official website in advance. The galleries are a place to stay quiet, so a word to small children beforehand keeps things smooth. Explaining the connection to Kenkon-in Temple (乾坤院), which you visit next, gives children a purpose for the visit.
