Oyama Haiji Ruins (大山廃寺跡)

About this spot

These are temple ruins designated a national historic site, remaining in the hills of Oyama in Komaki City. No buildings survive, but the foundation stones and stone pagodas dotted along the slope convey that a large temple once stood here. It is a quiet spot surrounded by trees, and simply walking while listening to birdsong makes for a pleasant stretch of time. Telling children that a temple once stood here and counting the stones as you walk keeps them from getting bored. Shimin Shiki no Mori is only a few minutes away by car, making this just the right stop for a morning stroll.

Venue: 小牧市・市民四季の森

小牧市の市民四季の森にある無料の水遊び場、「小牧市総合公園市民四季の森虹の滝」です。ミストの噴出期間は3月1日(日)から10月31日(土)までで、6月から8月は9:00〜19:00と夜まで長く楽しめます。11月ごろから2月ごろまでは噴出を休止するので、水遊び目当てなら春から秋に訪れましょう。細かな霧が降りそそぐ中を走り抜ける遊びは、深い水が苦手な小さな子でも楽しみやすいのが魅力です。園内にはトイレが7か所あり、うち6か所は車椅子対応でベビーシートを備え、授乳室もソリスベリ管理棟内に用意されています。料金は無料なので、夕方に少しだけ立ち寄る使い方もできます。

Tips

5月の第2・第4木曜と、6月から9月の毎週木曜は清掃日で水に入れません。第4木曜は休園日でもあるため、木曜は避けて計画するのが確実です。6月から8月は19:00まで噴出しているので、日差しを避けて夕方から遊ぶ計画も立てられます。足元が滑りやすいのでマリンシューズがあると安心。水遊び後は体をよく流し、木陰で休憩をはさみながら遊ぶと熱中症を防げます。

Tips

There are dirt slopes and steps, so visit in easy-walking shoes rather than sandals. There is plenty of shade, but insects appear in some seasons, so bug repellent makes it more comfortable. It is a historic site, so tell your children beforehand not to climb on the stones or remains.
