The Hekinan Rinkai Park Splash Pond is a free water-play area in Hekinan City's Rinkai Park. It is open year-round on a fiscal-year basis (April 1 to March 31 of the following year); it is not described as seasonal, and no opening period or hours are published. It is a water-friendly space with a mist fountain and a tunnel fountain, so children can step into the mist or duck under arches of water and play at their own pace, even if they are not comfortable with deep water. The park also has a Grand Fountain, a babbling stream, and Whale Pond, and simply walking from one water feature to the next makes the afternoon fly by. Because the park faces the sea, you can rest in the sea breeze when the playing tires you out. Admission is free, so a short stop works too.

On Tuesday, August 25, Whale Pond, the babbling stream, the Splash Pond, and the Grand Fountain are closed to visitors for fountain cleaning and inspection, so plan around that date. Since no opening hours are published, checking the Hekinan City official website for that day's operation before you visit is the surest approach. The ground is slippery, so water shoes are reassuring. After the water play, rinse off well and take breaks in the shade to prevent heatstroke.
