Hekinan Seaside Aquarium (碧南海浜水族館)

About this spot

An aquarium inside Hekinan Rinkai Park, focused on the creatures that live in Mikawa Bay (三河湾) and Ise Bay (伊勢湾). It is not a large facility, but that means you can take your time at each tank, and it is just the right size for small children to walk through without tiring. Once you know what fish live in the local sea, the view of the water from the park looks different on the way out. The adjoining Youth Marine Science Museum (青少年海の科学館) adds exhibits on water and the earth. Being indoors, it also works as a place to rest and avoid the strongest sunlight.

碧南市の臨海公園にある無料の水遊び場、「碧南市臨海公園じゃぶじゃぶ池」です。年度単位(4月1日〜翌3月31日)の通年開設で、季節限定という記載はなく、開設期間や時間の公表もされていません。ミスト噴水とトンネル噴水のある親水空間になっていて、霧を浴びたり水のアーチをくぐったりと、深い水が苦手な小さな子でも自分のペースで遊べます。園内にはほかにも大噴水・せせらぎ・くじら池があり、水にまつわる場所を巡り歩くだけで午後があっという間に過ぎていきます。海に面した公園なので、遊び疲れたら潮風の中で休むこともできます。料金は無料なので、短時間だけ立ち寄る使い方もできます。

Tips

8月25日(火)は噴水の清掃・点検のため、くじら池・せせらぎ・じゃぶじゃぶ池・大噴水への立ち入りができません。この日は避けて計画してください。開設時間の公表がないため、訪問前に碧南市の公式サイトで当日の稼働を確認しておくと確実です。足元が滑りやすいのでマリンシューズがあると安心。水遊び後は体をよく流し、木陰で休憩をはさみながら遊ぶと熱中症を防げます。

Tips

Check admission fees and closed days on the official website in advance. It is a place to stay quiet, so a word to the children beforehand about not running is reassuring. The Splash Pond is a short walk away, so you can move straight from the exhibits to the water play.
