Standing on the shore of Toyanogata Lagoon (鳥屋野潟), this is the science museum that represents Niigata Prefecture. It centers on hands-on exhibits you can touch and operate yourself, letting you confirm how force, light, and sound work while you play. There are also life-size dinosaur models and a corner introducing the nature of Niigata, and its strength is that ages from preschoolers to elementary school children can all enjoy the same place. Being indoors, it keeps your plans intact even on scorching or suddenly rainy days. Take it easy here in the morning to save energy for the afternoon's water play.

新潟県立鳥屋野潟公園鐘木地区せせらぎは、公園の中を流れる人工河川で水遊びができる無料のスポットです。開設期間は未発表で、公式からは「せせらぎ運転」の告知のみが出ています。2026年は7月18日(土)にポンプ運転を再開し、8月1日から8月31日までは9:00頃から17:00頃へ運転時間を拡大すると案内されています。浅い流れなので小さな子どもでも歩いて渡れ、水の勢いを手で受け止めたり、上流から下流へ歩いたりと遊び方は自由です。すぐそばにはトリムの森の遊具やメイン広場、多目的広場があり、水に飽きたら陸の遊びへ、体が冷えたらまた水へと行き来できます。せせらぎで遊ぶためのゴムサンダルは、鐘木インフォメーションセンターで貸し出されています。

Tips

降雨時は運転がありません。出発前に公園の公式サイトで当日の運転状況を必ず確認してください。開設期間は未発表なので、7月中の訪問は特に事前確認が欠かせません。8月以外は運転時間が短い場合があるため、到着時刻に余裕を持たせておくと安心です。流れの底は滑りやすいので、素足ではなくゴムサンダルなどの履物を履かせてください。着替え場所は限られるので、上から羽織れるタオルや簡易ポンチョがあると便利です。

Tips

The planetarium costs extra and has set screening times. If you want to see it, secure a time right after you enter. During the summer holidays, special exhibitions and craft events can make it crowded, so arriving at opening time lets you go around at a relaxed pace. The building is air-conditioned, so a light layer to throw on is comfortable.
