Mizbering Sanjo Seseragi Waterway

The Mizbering Sanjo Seseragi Waterway is a free water-play spot at Sanjo MIZBE Station; its opening period has not been announced, and in past years it has been the summer season. The City of Sanjo officially states that 「even small children can enjoy playing in the water with peace of mind」, and this shallow waterway suits a child's very first water play. The same grounds have play equipment, a 3-on-3 basketball court and a skateboard park, so when the water loses its appeal you can switch to dry-land play. The kamado (stove) benches and cooking area can be used for barbecue free of charge, so you can build a whole day including meals. A flood-control learning hall is attached as well, letting you learn about the relationship between rivers and daily life, something unique to this place. Best of all is the shower room: being able to rinse off after playing means less worry about soaking the car seats on the way home.

Tips

Some days it cannot be used due to snow or other conditions, so be sure to check the current status on the City of Sanjo official page before you set out. Since the opening period has not been announced, checking in advance is essential. The bottom of the waterway is slippery, so have children wear sandals or water shoes that will not slip off. If you plan to use the shower room, bringing soap and sandals makes it more comfortable. If you use the kamado benches or cooking area, confirm the usage rules on the on-site signage before starting. As this is a riverbed area, shade is limited, so bring plenty of sun protection and drinks.

Best time to visit

Arrive at 14:00 and you can play for a full two and a half hours until the sun begins to sink in the evening
