Michi-no-Eki Minami-Uonuma Yukiakari Ikoi-no-Hiroba Water Play Area
About this spot
The water play area at Michi-no-Eki Minami-Uonuma Yukiakari Ikoi-no-Hiroba is a free spot where you can play in shallow water about 30 cm deep. The opening period has not been announced; officially only 「hours of use are 9:00-17:00, and it cannot be used during the winter season」 has been published. It is not a swimming pool, but the water is filtered, circulated and disinfected, which brings peace of mind when letting small children play. Right beside it are an air dome, a slide and a sand play area, so there is no shortage of places to warm up or dry off after getting out of the water. The Imaizumi Memorial Hall (今泉記念館), Shiki Ajiwaikan and a dining area are on the same grounds, so drinks and snacks are only a short walk away. In an open plaza with views across the mountain range, you can play in the water amid scenery that is quintessentially Minami-Uonuma.
Tips
When the Imaizumi Memorial Hall (今泉記念館) is closed, filtration, circulation and disinfection are not carried out. Schedule your visit for a day the hall is open. It may be unavailable due to weather conditions or equipment inspections, so be sure to check the current status on the michi-no-eki official page before you set out. Hours of use are from 9:00 to 17:00, and it cannot be used during the winter season. The bottom is slippery, so having children wear sandals or water shoes that will not slip off is safer. A changing room is not guaranteed, so a towel or simple poncho that can be worn over the shoulders makes changing easier. Shade is limited, so bring plenty of sun protection and drinks.
Best time to visit
Arrive at 14:00 and you can get out with time to spare before the 17:00 closing
