Tamagawa Josui Old Waterway Green Path (玉川上水旧水路緑道)

About this spot

Of the Tamagawa Josui, which drew water from the Tama River (多摩川) to the city of Edo, the section that once flowed around Hatagaya and Sasazuka has been laid out as a long, narrow green path. The waterway itself has been filled in, but the shape of the road and the trees lining both sides convey the original course just as it was. Small plazas with benches and playground equipment are dotted along the way, so walking it with children never gets dull. The trees block the sunlight, which is a real help on a midsummer morning. It is also close to Hatagaya Daisan Park, making it an easy place to drop by as the starting point of the day.

幡ヶ谷第三公園親水施設（水遊び場）は、渋谷区の幡ヶ谷第三公園にある無料の水遊び場です。2026年の開設期間は7/1(水)から9/24(木)まで、時間は9:00〜17:00で、渋谷区の親水施設のなかでも閉場が17時と遅めなのが特徴です。水深は浅く、小さな子どもでも自分の足で歩いて遊べる造りになっています。京王線の幡ヶ谷駅から歩ける住宅街の中にあるため、思い立った日に電車で出かけられる気楽さがあります。料金は無料で、地域の子どもたちの夏の遊び場として定着しています。夕方まで開いているので、午前を別の場所で過ごしてから来ても遊び足りないということがありません。

Tips

清掃日にあたる毎週金曜日の午前は利用できません。また気象状況によって開設が変更になることがあるので、出発前に渋谷区の公式ページで状況を確認してください。飲食物の持込とペットの入水はできません。着替えの場所は限られるため、水着を下に着ていくと現地での支度が短く済みます。日陰は限られるので、休憩用の大きめのタオルと帽子を用意しておきましょう。

Tips

The green path crosses roadways at several points, so hold hands as you walk to keep children from running ahead. Choosing benches in the shade makes for a more comfortable rest. Vending machines are scattered along the path, but bringing your own drinks is the sure bet. The route is long, so deciding how far you will walk before setting out keeps you from getting too tired.
