About this spot

This ward-run park spreads out around Benten Pond and is the signature park of the Himonya area. Rowboats float on the pond, and peering at the water from the bridge to the island becomes a small adventure for children. At the park's Children's Animal Plaza you can meet ponies, guinea pigs and rabbits, making it a precious place for animal contact in central Tokyo. The area around the pond is ringed by groves of trees, so you can choose shaded routes even in midsummer. Nakane Park (中根公園) is within walking distance, making this an ideal starting point for an afternoon of water play.

Tips

The Children's Animal Plaza has set opening hours and set times for animal contact, so check the ward's official page in advance. Rowboat use costs a fee and may be suspended depending on the weather. Always wash your hands after touching the animals. The park has plenty of shade, but mosquitoes can appear around the pond, so insect repellent brings peace of mind.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 10 minutes. The animals at the plaza are more active in the morning.
