Ana Hachimangu Shrine (穴八幡宮)

About this spot

A shrine set on the heights near Waseda University that has drawn worshippers since the Edo period. The vermilion Zuishinmon gate and the drum tower catch the eye, and as you climb the stone steps the sounds of the town fade away. It is known nationwide for the Ichiyo Raifuku amulet issued between the winter solstice and Setsubun, but in summer the precincts are hushed, quiet enough to make resting in the shade a pleasure. For children, simply counting the steps as they climb becomes a small challenge. The Hakoneyama area of Toyama Park is within walking distance.

戸山公園じゃぶじゃぶ池（箱根山地区）は、新宿区の戸山公園にある無料の水遊び場です。2026年のシーズンは7/1(水)〜9/30(水)、時間は10:30〜15:30です。すべり台のついた浅い池になっているので、水に入るだけでなく滑って遊べるのが子どもには大きな魅力になっています。箱根山のふもとにあり、まわりを木立が囲んでいるため日陰を確保しやすいのも助かるところ。料金は無料で、園内にはトイレもあります。テントの設営はできないので、日よけはレジャーシートと木陰で工夫してください。

Tips

清掃点検の休止は8/5(水)・9/3(木)です。天候や気温によって他の日も休止になることがあるので、出発前に開設状況を確認してください。テントの設営はできません。すべり台は順番を守る約束を先にしておくと安心です。更衣室の案内はないため、水着を下に着ていくかタオルポンチョを持参しましょう。

Tips

There are steep stone steps up to the precincts, so it is safer to leave the stroller at the bottom and carry your child up. Staffed hours at the shrine office vary with the season. Agree beforehand that you will worship quietly. There is plenty of shade, but climbing up and down the steps works up a sweat, so remember to keep hydrated.
