The Honcho Park Water Play Facility (Splash Area) is a free water-play area in Honcho Park, Shibuya Ward. In 2026 it opens from Wednesday 1 July to Thursday 24 September, 9:00-17:00, and staying open into the evening is a real help. It is built shallow, so even little ones who have just started walking can move around on their own feet. Although it is within walking distance of the Nishi-Shinjuku high-rise district, the surroundings are a calm residential area, and it serves as an everyday play spot for local children. It is free of charge, so you can head out on a whim whenever the weather looks good. The same park also has a playground with equipment, so children can switch activities once they are out of the water.

Tips

It cannot be used on Wednesday mornings, which are cleaning days. The schedule may also change depending on weather conditions, so check the situation on Shibuya Ward's official page before you set out. Food and drink may not be brought in and pets may not enter the water. Changing space is limited, so wearing swimwear underneath keeps preparation on site short. There are times when shade is scarce, so bring a large towel and a hat for resting.
