About this spot

The 'Tsurumaki Higashi Park Wading Pool' is a free water-play spot in Tsurumaki Higashi Park, Tama City. In 2026 it is open from Saturday, July 18 through Monday, August 31, from 9:00 to 16:00. The pool water is tap water managed with chlorine-based disinfectant, so guardians can feel reassured letting small children play. The water is shallow and the surroundings are open, making it easy for parents to keep an eye on their kids, which is another plus. Next to it is a hillside plaza, letting you switch between running around after getting out of the water or resting on a sheet. It's within walking distance from the town center of Tama Center, making it easy to spend the morning in town and reserve just the afternoon for water play.

Tips

Closed for cleaning on Thursdays, July 30, August 6, August 13, and August 20. Since it's open only from 9:00 to 16:00, wrapping up a bit early with time to change clothes will give you more breathing room. Check the on-site signage and Tama City's official website for the day's opening status and precautions. The hillside plaza has little shade, so it's more comfortable to leave your belongings on the shaded side. It's also reassuring to confirm in advance whether changing and hand-washing facilities are available.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 35 minutes. After 2pm, when the sunlight softens, is the most comfortable time.
