The lawn plaza of the Prefectural Chikuho Green Park spreads out right next to the Waterside Plaza. Pick a shady spot, lay out a picnic sheet, and it becomes your lunch spot. After eating, you can get active on the nearby combination playground equipment, making for a good bridge of time before the afternoon water play. Admission to the park is free, and there are also sports facilities within the grounds, though some require a fee. There are also separate paid indoor and outdoor pools within the same park, so families with children old enough to want to swim properly can consider combining that too. Spending a relaxed time first at the free plaza is how this course is meant to be enjoyed.

Tips

There's no guarantee of a place to reliably buy food within the park, so it's reassuring to prepare a bento and drinks before you set out. The midsummer lawn reflects a lot of heat, so check where the shade is before laying out your sheet. Playground equipment in direct sun can get hot, so touch it with your hand to check the temperature before playing. Insect repellent will help you stay comfortable.
