Hitachi Seaside Park Water Play Plaza (国営ひたち海浜公園 水遊び広場)

Flow of the course

About this spot

The Hitachi Seaside Park Water Play Plaza is a summer-only water play facility near the central gate. The wading pools are split by depth-about 15 cm for toddlers and about 25 cm for children-so kids can play according to their age. The 'water tunnel,' where a large volume of water pours down from about 2 meters high to form a wall of water, is a popular feature that draws cheers just from walking through it. In the star-shaped plaza, water shoots forcefully from 50 nozzles, giving kids room to run around and play. Using the water play plaza itself is free-you only need to pay the park's admission fee to enjoy it. With sea breezes passing through, it stays relatively comfortable even in the height of summer.

Tips

In 2026, it's open from Saturday, July 18 to Monday, August 31, until 30 minutes before the park closes. Swimsuits are required, so be sure to bring one. Paper diapers are not allowed, and swim diapers/pants may only be used in the fountain plaza. Bare feet are required in the pools, so leave your sandals outside for moving between areas. Closing times vary by season, so check the official website for that day's opening and closing hours, and plan to get out of the water 30 minutes before closing. Some facilities may be unavailable on regular cleaning days. Changing areas tend to be crowded, so it helps to have kids wear their swimsuits underneath beforehand.

Best time to visit
