Isahaya City Children's Castle Splash Pond (諫早市こどもの城 じゃぶじゃぶ池) is the outdoor part of this children's facility in the Shiragamine Highlands. Isahaya City's August guide notes: During summer vacation (July 18-August 30), Outdoor Play Time starts at 14:00! During this time, splash pond play and outdoor play, please actively head out into nature, so water play really gets going from 2 p.m. Admission is free. Indoors there's a play hall, a play space, a craft space, and a pretend-play space, and outside a forest, botanical garden, pond, and walking paths spread out, so even if the children tire of the water, there's no shortage of places to play. During Outdoor Play Time, the first-floor conference room is opened up as an air-conditioned rest room, so it's reassuring to have a place to escape to when the heat wears you out.

Tips

Opening hours are 9:00 to 17:00, and the facility is closed every Monday (or the following weekday if that Monday is a public holiday). It may close temporarily if a typhoon or heavy rain warning is issued, so check before you set out on days when the weather looks likely to turn bad. Children cannot visit alone and must always be accompanied by a guardian. If you arrive before 14:00, you can play and wait in the indoor play hall and elsewhere, so getting in a little early makes things go more smoothly. Don't forget a change of clothes and a bag for wet clothing.

Best time to visit

About 2.5 hours. You can make full use of the time from 14:00, when Outdoor Play Time starts, until closing at 17:00.
