About this spot
Kanaya Kaihin Park Pool in Futtsu City, Chiba Prefecture, is an outdoor pool inside Kanaya Kaihin Park facing Tokyo Bay. In 2026 it is open for about a month, from Monday, July 20 (national holiday) through Thursday, August 20, timed to coincide with the very middle of summer vacation. Because it sits within a seaside park, its biggest appeal is swimming with a view found nowhere else, Tokyo Bay spreading out beyond the water and the sheer rock face of Mount Nokogiri rising behind. Unlike swimming in the open sea, there is no risk of being pulled out by waves, so even families with small children can enjoy the water at ease. With such a short opening period, it is a summer tradition of the Uchibo coast well worth visiting while it lasts.
Season & hours
Name: 金谷海浜公園プール
Date & time: 7/20 (Mon, hol.)–8/20 (Thu)
Venue: 富津市・金谷海浜公園
Tips
Be sure to check opening hours, fees, and usage rules in advance with Futtsu City or the facility. The opening period is short, running only through Thursday, August 20, so plan your schedule with some flexibility. As an outdoor pool, it may close during thunderstorms or severe weather. The seaside sun is strong and the wind picks up, so bring both sunscreen and something to cover up with.
Best time to visit
Entering around 1 PM lets you enjoy a leisurely 3.5 hours until evening, when the sunlight softens.
