About this spot

Hita Municipal Pool is an outdoor pool in Takeda Park (竹田公園), open from 10:00 to 17:00 from Monday, July 20 to Monday, August 31 in 2026. With a full 50-meter length, 9 lanes, and a depth of 1.3–1.5 m, it's built to a genuine scale suitable even for official competitions. A major feature of this facility is its spectator seating for about 1,000 people, letting family members who aren't swimming sit back comfortably and watch. And since admission is free, you can visit as often as you like throughout summer vacation. In the Hita Basin, surrounded by mountains and known for its intense summer heat, the feeling of diving into this expansive pool is truly special.

Tips

The pool opens at 10:00 and closes at 17:00. Arriving in the early afternoon lets you enjoy plenty of time before closing. Since the water is 1.3–1.5 m deep, prepare flotation devices for shorter children and make sure a guardian stays with them at all times. Swim caps may be required, so it's reassuring to bring enough for everyone in your family. Shade is limited to part of the spectator seating, so bring extra towels or something to wear over your swimsuit. Check Hita City's official information for the day's opening status.

Best time to visit

About 3 hours 40 minutes. Entering in the early afternoon allows plenty of time to swim until closing.
