2026 Full-Day Course Centered on Hita Municipal Pool (日田市営プール)
This is a one-day course centered on Hita Municipal Pool (日田市営プール), located in Takeda Park (竹田公園), open from 10:00 to 17:00 from Monday, July 20 to Monday, August 31, 2026. With a full 50-meter length, 9 lanes, and a depth of 1.3–1.5 m, it's a genuine outdoor pool, complete with spectator seating for about 1,000 people. Best of all, admission is free, so local children can visit as often as they like throughout summer vacation, making it a true summer hangout. In the morning, walk to nearby Mameda-machi (豆田町), a town that flourished as a shogunate-administered territory (tenryo) in the Edo period, and stroll its white-walled streets, browsing sake breweries and long-established confectionery shops. Next, stop by the site of Kangien (咸宜園跡), a late-Edo-period private school, and quietly explore the remains of the school that drew students from across the country. Past noon, enter Hita Municipal Pool (日田市営プール) and spend the afternoon in the water until evening. This is a course you can complete with short trips around a basin town surrounded by the Mikuma River (三隈川) and mountains.
