About this spot

This dam sits upstream on the Hirowatari River, located right next to the Lakeside Park Pool. The scale of the dam wall is more impressive up close than you'd expect, and children are often genuinely amazed by the size of the concrete wall. The reservoir is a quiet, mountain-ringed body of water, and when the wind blows you can hear the rustle of the trees. Explaining that the pool water comes from this river before you swim gives the water play a slightly different meaning. It's a good spot for a short stop combined with a break.

Tips

Please follow the on-site signage for areas open to viewing. Remind children not to go outside the fence or down to the water's edge. There's little shade, so it's best to keep your visit brief.

About 40 minutes. Works well paired with a meal before entering the pool
