Yumegaoka Park Pool is an outdoor pool located in Yumegaoka Park in Kogushi, Toyoura-cho, Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture. In 2026 it is open from Monday, July 20 to Monday, August 31. It has one 25-meter, 7-lane pool, and because the lanes are divided, children practicing their swimming can use it with confidence. For little ones, there's a toddler pool with a slide — sliding down again and again for a splash never gets old. Being up on a hill, the breeze from the Hibiki Sea passes through, so even on strong-sun days it feels refreshingly cool when you get out of the water. It's the water-play hub of Toyoura, bustling with local families throughout summer vacation.

Tips

Always check Shimonoseki City's official website in advance for fees, opening hours, and closed days. Swim caps are generally required at this park pool. The slide may have height or age restrictions, so check the on-site signage if visiting with a small child. Shade is limited up on the hill, so prepare a rash guard and sunscreen, and take frequent breaks with plenty of water. Parking fills up early on summer weekends.

Best time to visit

Entering at 1:00 PM gives you three and a half hours until evening. It gets noticeably more comfortable after 3:00 PM, once the sea breeze picks up.
