Iwakuni City Tateishi Pool is an outdoor pool operated by Iwakuni City, open in 2026 from Tuesday, July 21 through Sunday, August 30. It is closed every Monday and also from August 13 to 15 during the Obon holiday, so plan your schedule with that in mind. The water area is divided into two: a 25m general pool with a depth of 1m10cm to 1m40cm, and a children's pool with a depth of 50cm for little ones. Because the depths are clearly separated, older kids can focus on practicing swimming while younger kids can get used to the water somewhere they can safely stand - that's what makes this pool easy to use. It doesn't have flashy facilities like a large leisure pool, but the crowd flow is correspondingly relaxed, letting parents watch over their kids nearby while they play.

It may be closed depending on weather or water temperature. Check the rules at the reception desk, including whether swim caps are required. Assume there is no shop, so it's reassuring to bring your own drinks and snacks. Having some coins on hand will save time at the entrance and lockers.

Best time to visit

If you enter at 12:50, you get about 3 hours 40 minutes until evening. After 15:00 the sunlight softens, making it more comfortable for swimming.
