Iwakuni City Asahi Pool (岩国市営旭プール) is an outdoor pool in Iwakuni City, open in 2026 from Tuesday, July 21 through Sunday, August 30. The 25m general pool has a depth starting at 90cm and reaching 1m20cm, shallow enough for elementary school children to stand, making it well suited to practicing swimming. There is also a separate children's pool with a depth of 50cm, so little ones who can't swim yet can play safely at a depth suited to their height. With the unpretentious atmosphere typical of a municipal facility, it's a familiar spot where local children come to play during summer vacation. Working up a sweat walking around Kintai Bridge and Iwakuni Castle in the morning, then cooling off completely in the water in the afternoon, is a fitting way to spend summer in this area.

Closed every Monday and during the Obon holiday, August 13 to 15. Check the opening hours and fees in advance through Iwakuni City or the facility's own information. It may be closed some days depending on weather or water temperature. Lockers often require coins, so have some 100-yen coins ready. Don't expect much from the shop; it's reassuring to bring your own drinks.

Best time to visit

If you enter at 13:00, you get about 3.5 hours until evening. It becomes more comfortable to swim after 15:00, when the sunlight softens.
