Yamagata Prefectural General Sports Park Outdoor Pool is a summer pool within the prefecture's General Sports Park in Tendo City, open in 2026 from Saturday, July 18 through Sunday, August 23. It runs on a complete two-session swap system, with Session 1 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and Session 2 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The recreation pool area has a kids' pool, a lazy river about 200 meters around, a 100-meter tube slide, a 72-meter body slide, and a Wild Vern water slide -- more than enough to keep you busy for a whole day. Right next door is a 50-meter pool certified by the Japan Swimming Federation (8 lanes, 180 cm deep, 200 cm at the center), available for anyone who wants to swim laps. It's one of the largest pools in the prefecture, well worth a trip from farther away.

Admission is 900 yen for adults and 450 yen for children/students at the recreation pool, and 220 yen for adults and 110 yen for children/students at the 50-meter pool; cash only. Since it runs on a complete swap system, this itinerary is timed for Session 2 (2:00 pm to 6:00 pm). Note that you must exit once during the changeover between sessions. The slides have usage conditions such as minimum height, so check these at the entrance. The 50-meter pool is deep, so small children cannot use it. Shaded areas are limited, so secure a resting spot early.
