This is Gokai Pool, an outdoor pool in Fujikawa Town, Yamanashi Prefecture. In 2026, it will be open from 10:00 to 16:00, August 1 (Sat) through August 16 (Sun). It's open for just a short period of a little over two weeks spanning Obon, a pool truly made for summer vacation. What's more, admission is free, which is its biggest draw, families can visit as many times as they like without hesitation. Situated among mountains, the breeze that blows through as you get out of the water feels wonderful, and the experience is completely different from an outdoor pool in the city. There are no flashy facilities, but an afternoon splashing around alongside local children is a simple, fulfilling time you can't find elsewhere on a trip.

Best time to visit

Entering at 12:45 leaves a full 3+ hours until closing. From around 15:00, as the sun lowers, it feels noticeably cooler
