About this spot

A small station on the JR Takayama Main Line located in Kawai-cho, Hida City. Trains are infrequent, and standing on the platform you'll hear nothing but the sound of the river and birdsong. Mountains press in on both sides of the tracks, letting you feel the valley terrain of Hida just as it is. The atmosphere of the station building and waiting area carries the unhurried flow of time typical of a local rural line. Checking the train schedule in advance and watching just one train pass by can be a special experience for children. As the starting point for the day's destination, Kawai Pool, it's a fitting place to begin the day quietly.

This is an unstaffed station, so if you're not using the train, please refrain from entering the platform and view it from the surrounding area instead. Checking the JR timetable in advance lets you estimate the wait time. Parking space is limited, so avoid roadside parking.
