A scenic gorge in Onan Town, shaped over long years as a tributary of the Gonokawa River carved through the rock, creating a distinctive landscape. A walking trail is well maintained, so you can stroll while taking in the flowing water. Trees cover both banks, and thanks to the sound of the water and the shade, it feels cool here even in the height of summer. Waterfalls and pools follow one after another, and the scenery keeps changing as you walk just a short distance, so it never gets boring. It's also close to Kawamoto Town, making it a good stop in the morning before heading to the pool.
Tips
Some parts of the trail get wet and slippery underfoot, so wear shoes you can walk in easily. Avoid going down to the water's edge and view it from the trail instead, for safety. Water levels can rise after rain, so don't push your luck. Insect repellent will make things more comfortable.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour. With plenty of shade, it's easy to walk even during the day
