About this spot
Samurai-hama Seawater Pool, adjacent to Kuji City's Kita-Samurai-hama Campground, is open from Saturday, July 18 to Monday, August 31, 2026. Its biggest feature is its structure, carved directly out of the rocky shoreline by the sea. The surrounding rock absorbs the open ocean's waves, keeping the inside calm, so you can be immersed in seawater with little risk of being swept away, an arrangement that's rare nationwide. The Pacific Ocean stretches out endlessly in front of you, letting you swim while gazing at the horizon. Coin showers, changing rooms, and flush toilets are all provided, so you can rinse off the salt and change before heading home, a reassuring touch for families.
Season & hours
Name: 侍浜海水プール
Date & time: 7/18 (Sat)–8/31 (Mon)
Venue: 久慈市・侍浜海水プール (北侍浜野営場に隣接)
Tips
Be sure to check Kuji City's official information for the day's opening dates, hours, and fees before you go. Since you'll be close to the rocks, marine shoes can give you peace of mind for protecting your feet. As this is a seawater pool, rinse off the salt at the coin showers afterward, having small change ready makes this smoother. Even in summer, North Sanriku can have days with a cold sea breeze, so bring something to layer on. Consider skipping the pool on days with high waves or bad weather.
Best time to visit
About 3 hours 10 minutes. The afternoon, when temperatures rise, is the most comfortable time.
