About this spot

This roadside station overlooks the reservoir of Fukutomi Dam and is a go-to spot for families in Higashihiroshima City. Large play equipment sits on a grassy slope, and in summer there's also a plaza with flowing water to play in, so kids are absorbed the moment they arrive. The farmers' market carries local vegetables and fruit, and with a food court and bakery on site, lunch is never a problem. There's both an outdoor play area and an indoor rest space, so you can choose depending on the heat. This is a good place to fuel up and get some exercise before heading to the pool.

Tips

If you play in the water plaza you'll get wet, so bring a full change of clothes. Check the closed days and opening hours in advance. The parking lot gets crowded on summer weekends, so an early morning arrival is recommended.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 40 minutes. Getting lunch out of the way early makes the afternoon easier.
