About this spot

A roadside station (道の駅) in Kono-cho, Shobara City, that many travelers stop at on their way from the Chugoku Expressway to the Matsue Expressway. Kono-cho lies in the highlands of the Chugoku Mountains, a region with heavy snow in winter and cool summers. The sales area is stocked with vegetables and fruit grown in this climate, and the station also introduces its snow-cellar (雪室) storage methods that make use of the winter snow. There is a rest area and a corner for light meals, making it a good place to take a break during the trip. Since the pool is assumed to have no concession stand, it's reassuring to stock up on snacks and drinks here, which makes the afternoon easier.

Tips

Please check business hours and regular closing days in advance. Popular produce items can sell out by midday. Parking is free and there is ample space. It's a good idea to check in advance whether food and drinks are allowed at the pool.
