About this spot

Ikatachi Citizens' Pool is an outdoor municipal pool in the Ikatachi district of Otsu City. In 2026 it's open from Monday, July 20 to Monday, August 31, and operates on a rotating entry system from 9:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 16:00 (with a break from 12:00 to 13:00). With both a 25-meter pool and a children's pool, kids who want to practice swimming and little ones who want to enjoy water play can each spend time at their own pace - a great feature for families. Located in a green district between Mount Hiei and Lake Biwa, it has a relaxed atmosphere unlike pools in the city center. Admission is 490 yen for adults and 330 yen for junior high school students, seniors, and people with disabilities, among others. Since it's a rotating entry system, entering the afternoon session lets you play through until closing.

Tips

Since it's closed for a break from 12:00 to 13:00, we recommend timing your entry to coincide with the start of the afternoon session at 13:00. Because of the rotating entry system, leaving partway through may require paying again to re-enter - check at the front desk. Opening hours and closed days vary by year, so check Otsu City's official information in advance. As this is an outdoor pool, swimming is suspended if a thunderstorm advisory is issued. Shade is limited, so a leisure sheet and hat are essential.

Best time to visit

About 3 hours. Entering at 13:00, the start of the afternoon session, lets you play through until closing.
